Cape’s hope of good lift in activity

SUPPORT services group Cape said it sees activity picking up in the second half of this year.

The group, which has operations in Doncaster, said revenues in the first half of 2011 will be broadly similar to last year, but growth is expected to pick up again during the second half and beyond, as demand for construction support services increases.

Cape, which counts National Grid, EDF and BP among its blue chip customers, said its Far East/Pacific Rim business continues to perform well and it expects revenues to grow by around 18 per cent in the first half.

It expects revenues in the CIS/Mediterranean and North Africa business will grow by around 30 per cent.

Growth in these two regions is expected to offset lower activity levels in the Gulf/Middle East region, where revenues are expected to fall by around 18 per cent.

Cape expects regional operating margins in the first half to be at similar levels to last year on an underlying basis except in the Far East/Pacific Rim region, where they are expected to continue to strengthen.
