Carclo delivers 'robust' performance

TECHNICAL plastics group Carclo has delivered a "robust" half year performance in line with the board's expectations.

The company, which is based in Ossett, West Yorkshire, has a diverse range of products including lighting for supercars and blood testing equipment

In the half year ended September 30, profit before tax increased to 2.5m, from 1.7m in the same period the year before.

Christopher Ross, the company's chairman, said: "The strategic progress made in the half year was excellent and the financial results were encouraging set against a background of continued economic uncertainty.

"The second half of the financial year is set to build on this momentum. The group continues to benefit from growth opportunities in medical diagnostics and LED optics. Start-up costs on the supercar lighting projects are progressively reducing which will underpin an improved second half performance in this business.

"We have a good, well positioned, growing businesses and great technological opportunities."
