The rest of the sales are derived from the supply of specialised precision products to the automotive and aerospace industries. Carclo, which is based in Ossett in West Yorkshire, is a leader in the development of LED lighting for supercars.

Christopher Ross, the company’s chairman, said Carclo had delivered sound financial results and excellent strategic progress during the year.

Mr Ross added: “As confirmed in June 2010 Ian Williamson will retire in March 2013 after 18 years as chief executive. The board has been preparing for his succession for some time and I am pleased to report the appointment of one of our executive team as chief executive designate. Chris Malley has been with Carclo for thirteen years, and has held senior management positions in finance, corporate development and then as divisional chief executive of our card clothing division which was sold to Bekaert in 2005.”
