Carclo technology achieves first commercial order

STRONG demand for Carclo’s new touchscreen technology has resulted in a first commercial order, according to its business partner Atmel.

Carclo, based in Osset, West Yorkshire, has developed touchscreen technology for tablet PCs and mobile phones which is being commercialised by Atmel as XSense.

The United States corporation told investors XSense has met a “very positive” response from customers, and it is working with several large manufacturers.

Atmel said it expects the technology to fitted mainly to larger screeen devices, such as tablet computers, because it offers superior performance and cost.

It is also seeing considerable interest from the industrial vehicle market. Carclo has an exclusive 10-year deal with Atmel.
