Ceremony marks ‘revival of confidence’ in city

Leading business figures gathered on site at the 10-storey 3 St Paul’s Place, which is the last part of the Heart of the City project. It is believed to be the first speculative office building in Sheffield to be developed since the recession.

The development of 3 St Paul’s Place went ahead following an agreement between developers CTP and Development Securities with Sheffield City Council and the Department for Communities and Local Government.

David Topham, the director of Manchester-based developers CTP, said: “These are exciting times for St Paul’s Place, which is now an established high-quality office location in the heart of Sheffield. The topping out ceremony, which took place on the roof of 3 St Paul’s Place, heralds the imminent completion of the building and marks the revival of confidence in Sheffield city centre.”

Mr Topham said he was delighted to report that there had been “huge interest” in the building already.

He added: “We are poised to announce a major letting to a household name at a record office rent for Sheffield, and there is also substantial interest in the rest of the office space.

“The building itself is the most modern – and the greenest – in Sheffield. It is due for completion in December and is the final important piece in the jigsaw of the Heart of the City initiative, which has transformed the city centre into one of the finest in the North of England,”

Coun Leigh Bramall, the deputy leader of Sheffield City Council, said: “This superb development is a classic example of the public and private sectors working together for the common good. We have enjoyed an excellent

partnership with David Topham and CTP.”
