Champions join campaign to boost city

Property firm Hammerson, solicitor Irwin Mitchell and Santander Corporate Banking have been named as partner champions to help raise the profile of a Yorkshire city internationally.

Marketing Leeds, the city's marketing agency, has redeveloped its Champions Scheme, which provides more than a quarter of its funding.

The three firms join 16 other Leeds-based companies will work alongside the Marketing Leeds board. A new advisory board will be made up of senior representatives from each organisation who act as advocates for the city.

David Knaggs, managing partner at Irwin Mitchell, said: "The Champions Scheme is an excellent opportunity to share ideas, maximise opportunities and promote the Leeds brand to a wider audience and it is something I am excited about being involved in."

The new two-tier Champions scheme already has a 60 organisations on board with the option for them to support at an "Associate" level as well.
