Chance to learn the drill as apprentice with dentistry firm

AT a time of rising youth unemployment, young people across Yorkshire are being offered the chance to take up apprenticeships in the field of dentistry.

An NHS dental service provider which has 10 clinics in Yorkshire is seeking new recruits to train in Leeds, Doncaster, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Market Weighton, Mexborough and Sheffield.

Leeds-based Genix Healthcare has announced plans to recruit more than 100 apprentices across England in the next 18 months, and nearly half of them will be hired in Yorkshire.

The Genix Healthcare apprentice programme has been set up in response to the “desperate need” for qualified and skilled dental nurses.

Genix, which was established in 2005, plans to increase its workforce by almost one third through the apprenticeship programme, which is backed by an investment of around £250,000.

The company’s clinical director, Sian Nelson-Jones, said: “We are all too aware of the devastating employment situation for young people and the challenges that they face in getting experience to kick-start their career.

“This is a rare opportunity for individuals to get a great start in dentistry.

She added: “The apprentices will be working in stylishly themed, modern practices, equipped with all of the latest technology, and learning from professionals who really care about their work and want to pass on their skills to others.”
