Chance to make name in Poland

IN 1980, a strike at the Gdansk shipyard in Poland led to the birth of the anti-communist trade union Solidarity.

Thirty one years later, Poland has embraced the free market and is looking to forge ties with Yorkshire.

Yorkshire companies can see how Gdansk has changed when they embark on a trade mission to Poland later this year.

The mission has been organised by Hull and Grimsby-based travel company Good Travel Management and the international trade centre at Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce.

It is also being supported by Hull solicitors Stamp Jackson & Procter.

The trip which runs between November 14 and 17, includes trips to Gdansk and Warsaw.

It coincides with two seminars in Poland that will promote East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire as places to do business.

Delegates will also get a chance to take part in business to business meetings and networking receptions.

There will also be a port tour in Gdansk and agribusiness site visits.

Kevin Harrison, associate director of Good Travel Management, said the visit will provide a range of opportunities for East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire entrepreneurs who are looking to break into the import or export market, or strengthen existing relationships in Poland.

He said: “They will get to meet some of Poland’s business elite.”
