Chancellor to speak at region's awards ceremony

TICKETS are now on sale for the Yorkshire Post's Excellence in Business Awards, the most eagerly awaited event in the county's corporate calendar.

The glittering awards dinner, which is due to be held in the Queens Hotel in Leeds on October 14, will feature a keynote speech from the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.

Entries are being judged by a panel of leading business figures, including Sir Ken Morrison.

Sir Ken won the individual award for excellence in 2008.

The awards honour businesses of all sizes who have displayed grit and determination to keep growing during the worst recession in a generation. Major sponsors of the awards include Yorkshire Bank, DLA Piper, PricewaterhouseCoopers, 02, Bradford University School of Management, thebigword group, Drax and Yorkshire and Humber Manufacturing Advisory Service.
