Charity gains from workers' Olympic spirit

FORGET USAIN Bolt and the 100m sprint, a Yorkshire recruitment firm has come up with a novel way for office workers to get into the Rio carnival spirit without leaving their desks'‹.

Rotherham-based Nicholas Associates Group is encouraging its teams across the UK to pit themselves against each other in the Office Olympics.

Events will include rubber band archery, paper aeroplane javelin and desk chair sprints, with the chance to win official #beyourbest Office Olympics chocolate medals.

The initiative will take place throughout the Rio Games, which kicked off over the weekend and will continue until August 21.

The firm said that as well as encouraging some healthy competition at work, it will be raising funds for its national charity partner, Dame Kelly Holmes Trust.

The partnership was launched earlier this year to recognise their mutual goals to support young people facing disadvantage into sustainable employment.

A pilot initiative is under way in Leeds to work with participants at the end of the Trust’s local programme as they seek to transition into work.
