DEAN Blood, the chief executive of spy gadgets firm Datong, is to stand down.

Mr Blood, who will leave immediately, has been with the group for nearly three years, initially as chief operating officer.

Leeds-based Datong said he has served two years as chief executive during a period of “considerable change and difficult trading conditions”.

The firm said it is looking for a replacement but gave no explanation for the departure.

Brian Smith, currently non executive director and the former chief executive, will lead the company in the interim.

Chairman Paul Lever said: “Datong wishes Dean well in his future career pursuits and, on behalf of the board, I thank him for his commitment and energy during his time with the group.

“We remain confident that the group’s strategy, which Dean helped put in place, of diversification of its customer groups and broadening and integration of its technology base and service provision will continue to drive the business forward and underpin future growth.”
