Christeyns confident of more growth

BRADFORD manufacturer Christeyns UK is predicting a year of more growth after completing a merger and an acquisition.

The company, which makes detergents and chemicals, said it has doubled turnover to £46m and increased headcount from 110 to 220 in the first full year since the deals.

Christyens UK bought a 50 per cent stake in Klenzan, an industrial hygiene solution provider, to expand its presence in the food, dairy and brewing sectors.

It also acquired Alex Reid, a supplier of chemicals, consumables and machinery to the dry cleaning sector, to strengthen its position in the textile care industry.

Nick Garthwaite, managing director, said: “We undertook a program of strategic growth, acquiring shares in two firms that allowed us to expand into new areas and to strengthen our position in key markets.”

The company plans to take advantage of increased purchasing power and improved logistics. It also hopes to grow organically after winning new contracts.

Accountants at Mazars advised on both transactions.
