Clipper looks forward to growth

Clipper Logistics, the firm that distributes goods for blue chip retailers, said a strong pipeline of new business is expected to provide momentum into 2016.

The Leeds-based group said it is in a strong financial position and it is performing in line with market expectations for the full year to 30 April 2015.

In a trading update the firm, which counts Asda, Morrisons, John Lewis and Asos among its customers, said its strategic positioning in the online fulfilment sector has enabled it to benefit from the trend towards online retailing.

Clipper said it saw growth from virtually all its e-fulfilment customers, particularly over the pre-Christmas trading period including the Black Friday weekend, when it recorded 100 per cent of customer service proposition. It added that its returns service, Boomerang, is gaining traction.

Steve Parkin, executive chairman, said: “The group’s strategic positioning in the e-fulfilment sector, including the provision of returns management services, coupled with continued growth in non e-fulfilment logistics operations, has placed the group in a strong position to achieve good year on year growth.

“The acquisition of Servicecare in December extends our service offering, and has been immediately earnings enhancing.”
