Clissold's century of making finest cloth

Clothmaker Joseph H Clissold is celebrating 100 years of making woven suit cloth which has attracted the likes of David Beckham and Joanna Lumley.

Managing director Lisa Cooper, left, pictured with sales manager and designer Ruth Henshaw Sykes, by the old weaving machine at the factory in Bradford, said the company has re-positioned itself at the top end of the market to appeal to those who want quality British cloth.

As part of Clissold's celebrations, it has reproduced 75 patterns from the last century for a special centennial collection.

Mrs Cooper said: "We went through our archives and picked out commercial designs that we liked.

"Yarn has got finer and finer over the years as we have been able to get it from different sources so we have taken some designs from 100 years ago and turned them into cloth for today."
