Clugston to work on waste project

building and civil engineering contractor Clugston Construction is to start work on a major Energy from Waste (EfW) plant in Lincolnshire.

The group, which has offices in Leeds and Scunthorpe, said the facility is part of a £145m investment plan that will treat up to 150,000 tonnes of household waste a year. The landmark project, which will dramatically reduce the amount of waste Lincolnshire sends to landfill, will see Clugston Construction working alongside its process partner CNIM, to build the EfW plant for Waste Recycling Group (WRG).

WRG, which was appointed by Lincolnshire County Council, will operate the facility once completed.

Lincolnshire’s first EfW facility will produce enough electricity to power over 10,000 homes and businesses.

The Local Authority is also planning to further exploit the potential of the facility to develop a district heating scheme to heat thousands of local homes and businesses.

Work is expected to begin in April.
