Cobbetts’ half-year fee income rises to £20.5m

LAW firm Cobbetts, which has a base in Leeds, yesterday revealed that it had achieved a three per cent increase in half-year fee income to £20.5m.

The firm said areas of growth in the six months to October 31, 2011 had been litigation and corporate, which boosted fee income in those areas by nine and five per cent respectively when compared with the same period last year. Cobbetts secured a number of client wins including telecommunications provider Maintel Holdings, US biotechnology giant Techne Corporation, and a number of Alternative Investment Market-quoted mining and minerals companies.

During the period, Cobbetts secured a £11.5m funding package with Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets.

James Boyd, the finance director at Cobbetts, said: “Our performance in the first half of the year is testament to the hard work and focus of everyone within the firm. The funding package from Lloyds serves only to strengthen our financial position. Despite the continued challenges in the UK and global economies, we continue to win quality domestic and international work.”

The company has 206 staff in Leeds.

A spokesman for Cobbetts said the firm was growing and there hadn’t been any redundancies in the last year.
