Communisis’ nine-year contract with Nationwide

PRINT and marketing services group Communisis has won a nine-year contract with Nationwide, Britain’s biggest building society.

Communisis, which has its registered office in Leeds, said it will develop and produce customer communications for the mutual lender.

These will include transactional, marketing and regulatory mailings.

No value was put on the contract.

The award follows a strategic review by Nationwide to decide the best way to communicate with its customers.

Communisis said the new contract will start in the next few weeks and will significantly extend its relationship with Nationwide to include all of the transactional documentation that is currently produced in-house.

All of this activity will now be transferred to Communisis’ centre of excellence in Liverpool, using high-speed colour digital technology.

Communisis will continue to produce direct mail, regulatory communications and security products and source point of sale and marketing collateral for Nationwide through its managed supply chain.

The group said the aim is to help Nationwide improve the clarity and effectiveness of its customer communications.

Communisis chief executive Andy Blundell said: “Communisis enters 2013 with a strong pipeline and new revenues from recently announced contracts.

“The latest Nationwide contract is a landmark business win for Communisis given its scale, duration and span of service delivery.

“It is one that reflects the depth of our trusted partnership and is further evidence that access to our market-leading investment in high-speed colour digital technology is very attractive to clients as they outsource more of their customer communication requirements.”

Analyst Johnathan Barrett, at N+1 Singer, said: “Communisis has secured a large extension to its existing relationship with Nationwide that will cover the next nine years. The extension will cover development and production of its customer communications including transactional, marketing and regulatory mailings.

“It will also take on the internally produced transactional documentation highlighting the value of contracting out.

“The contract was won following a strategic review by the client and we view this as a very positive endorsement of the group’s market position and product suite.”

In November, Communisis won a five-year contract with BT to produce all its billing and customer communication.
