Communisis trading going to plan

MARKETING specialist Communisis yesterday revealed that it was continuing to attract profitable new business.

In an interim management statement, the Leeds-based company said its trading performance for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 had continued to go according to plan.

The statement added: “As stated in our preliminary results announcement on March 3 2011, the current uncertain economic environment has had some influence on the short-term behaviour of marketeers.

“Demand in certain higher margin areas of our specialist production and sourcing segment, particularly in transactional – statements and cheques – has been stronger than expect- ed.

“At the same time intelligence driven communications (IDC) has experienced a slower than anticipated start to the year in some areas such as data and creative services. We expect the relative contribution to group performance of SPS and IDC to return to normalised levels in the second quarter.”
