company strategy boosts performance

Paul Nixon, senior partner of PwC in Leeds, said the company's strategy of staying close to its clients throughout the downturn had played a key part in its performance over the last year.

He added: “We operate successfully across all sectors of business, from the largest listed companies, through to entrepreneurial private companies. We remain a key employer in Yorkshire and Humberside, with 46 new graduates joining our Leeds, Sheffield and Hull offices later this month.

“We have also played a very active part in the local community over the last year. In addition to being members of Business in the Community, PwC has sponsored the Leeds City Council ‘Year of Volunteering’ in 2010, provided mentors for the School for Social Entrepreneurs in Harehills, run a Barnardos store in Bramley, Leeds, as part of the Storewars challenge and Leeds staff swam the equivalent of the English Channel as part of the World Swim for Malaria campaign.”
