The firm said the move will support efforts by Leeds City Council to get shoppers returning to the city centre.

SmileDirectClub said it will offer affordable, teeth aligner therapy to help residents create a smile they love after 41 per cent of locals said they are most self conscious about their teeth and 22 per cent said they were most self conscious about their smile.

SmileDirectClub has launched a new SmilePlan that can be paid over a 24 month period at £69 monthly, or £1,499 upfront for the treatment, which takes around six months to complete.

SmileDirectClub said it offers a unique customer experience in SmileShops where appointments are free and include a 3D image of customers' teeth.

Ahead of the launch, a study revealed that 33 per cent of people in Leeds avoid smiling because they don’t like their teeth, 25 per cent have covered their mouth when talking and 39 per cent smile with their mouth closed.

David Cran, vice president of SmileDirectClub, UK and Ireland, said: “We are thrilled to launch our first SmileShop storefront in perfect time as Leeds City Council is urging locals to return to the centre to support local businesses.
