ResQ, the outsourced contact centre specialists, has committed to take on 33,000 sq. ft office space in the Hammonds of Hull building to accommodate increased capacity for its partnership with Vodafone UK.

This expansion will provide ResQ with a new purpose-built site for the Vodafone partnership, with 500 agent stations, as well as retaining its existing George Street office.

A spokesman said around 500 jobs are being created in total, but not solely for the Vodafone partnership.

The spokesman said; “ResQ is looking to fulfil those roles by the middle of next year.”

The former home of the famous department store, Hammonds, the building was destroyed and then rebuilt following the Blitz in 1941. It is now enjoying a new lease of life as it undergoes a major refurbishment.

A spokesman said: "With a new roof and over 470 windows replaced, the inside will feature a huge atrium to open up the historic building so visitors can see its vast scale."
