Corporate teams urged to take up challenge

QUICK wrists rather than brute force will be the deciding factor at a World Cup themed table football tournament in support of this year's Leeds 10k run.

The networking evening in Leeds on June 30 is open to all corporate teams taking part in the annual fundraising run in memory of Jane Tomlinson, the late amateur athlete.

Each team will represent a country in the World Cup in the knockout table football challenge, which will be overseen by veteran referee Mike Riley and compered by ITV presenters Christine Talbot and Duncan Wood.

Entrants will face competition from a team from the Leeds Rhinos.

Mike Tomlinson said: "With the country about to hit football fever with this year's World Cup, it seemed fitting to incorporate it into this year's event. There's nothing better than a bit of healthy competition to get the team's ready for the main event on July 4."

Law firm Clarion Solicitors is organising the Corporate Challenge part of the Leeds 10k. Roger Hutton, a partner at the Leeds law firm, said: "The race itself is phenomenal with more than 11,000 people taking to the streets and we hope that once again, the business community will play its part in supporting this great event."

Around 20 teams so far have signed up for the Corporate Challenge.
