Panellists at the event will include David Brown, the chief executive of Transport for the North, the organisation which has been formed to improve the transport system across the North of England, by providing the infrastructure to drive economic growth.

Coun Hinchliffe said she was pleased that Transport for the North was providing a voice for the North of England.

She added: “Bradford has been overlooked for centuries in terms of infrastructure investment.”

Coun Hinchliffe said Bradford had 102,000 pupils studying in its schools, who will form part of the skilled workforce of the future. But she remains concerned about the lack of investment in the transport system.

She added: “We’re the youngest city in the country, but we’re not well connected.”
