Credit Suisse aims to step up presence

ONE of the world's largest private banks plans to grow its operations in Yorkshire, it was revealed yesterday.

Mark Widdup has been appointed to lead Credit Suisse's private banking operation based in Leeds. Mr Widdup will be responsible for developing the bank's wealth management business in Yorkshire.

Simon Racle, head of Credit Suisse's private banking business in the North of England, said: "Mark's appointment underscores Credit Suisse's commitment to our local presence in Yorkshire, which is an important region for our business in the UK.

"He is well positioned to deliver the benefits of our local integrated banking business to Leeds-based private clients."

During his eight years at Credit Suisse, Mr Widdup has played a key role in developing Credit Suisse's UK regional private banking business in the North of England.

Credit Suisse provides clients with private banking, investment banking and asset management services worldwide.
