Croft entices expert back to investment management

JULIE Jones has joined investment management firm Myddleton Croft as sales and marketing director.

Mrs Jones, previously head of UK retail sales at BNY Mellon, a global investment management and investment service firm, left in 2008 after 16 years. Since then she has carried out industry consultancy work.

David Cowell, founder and director of Myddleton Croft, said: “I am delighted that I was able to entice Julie back into the investment management arena. She brings a wealth of experience and industry knowledge which strengthens our commitment to provide a first class discretionary management service.”

In the legal sector, hlw Keeble Hawson, which has offices in Leeds, Sheffield and Doncaster, has appointed two new associates from within its ranks: employment litigator Andrew Lightburn and Neil Kelly, an insolvency specialist. Mr Lightburn joined hlw Keeble Hawson in 2010 after working with a London practice. Mr Kelly joined the practice as a trainee solicitor in 2006.

Leeds-based Blacks Solicitors has recruited two new trainees and retained two newly-qualified staff as part of its training contract scheme. Stephanie Round and Geoff Cunningham, who studied at the University of Leeds and the University of Huddersfield respectively, are the latest recruits to embark on a two-year training contract at the firm. Former trainees Peter Bott and Aimee Hutchinson are now qualified solicitors. Law firm Chadwick Lawrence has appointed Elise Daley, formally of Clarion, as associate in the commercial property department, based out of its Wakefield office.

Meanwhile, Jill Young has been appointed operations manager for Vida Healthcare, which is behind a new national centre for dementia care being built in Harrogate. She will be responsible for the day-to-day operational side of running Vida Hall, a facility which opens later this year. She said: “It is a very exciting opportunity to be involved in creating a bespoke, state-of-the-art facility that will embrace a new era in dementia care and challenge current practices.”

Elsewhere, Harrogate-based Cicada Communications has promoted Rachel Barker to senior account manager, and Bradford-based Yorkshire Water has announced it has recruited 16 new apprentices in various fields across its business.
