The Cruzs become Agents

SULTRY Spanish actress Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica are teaming up with luxury lingerie firm Agent Provocateur to design a diffusion range, writes Bernard Ginns.

The private equity-owned business said L’Agent will be available in select department stores around the world, including Harvey Nichols, from August 2013.

The company, owned by 3i, reported strong trading yesterday with total turnover up 21 per cent to £31.4m in the year to March 2012. Core earnings rose to £4.1m from £3.3m the previous year.

Agent Provocateur trades from 37 stores and since March has opened new boutiques in Milan, Berlin, Amsterdam, Montreal, Rotterdam, London, Hamburg and Hong Kong. But the business pulled out of Leeds’ Victoria Quarter a year ago.

Garry Hogarth, chief executive, said: “We remain focused on growing the business internationally and are excited about our future projects.”
