Dairy giant Arla delivering the goods for co-op owners

Arla expects 2012 to be a challenging year. The dairy co-operative said the last quarter showed “slight pressure” on performance, reflecting a deteroriating business environment in Europe, which has continued into 2012.

Peter Tuborgh, chief executive, said: “We expect significant revenue growth and for profits to be on par with 2011 albeit with fluctuations in the milk price for our co-operative owners over the year.

“To secure the top-line expansion effectively converts to the bottom-line, we’re working on all fronts to improve our internal efficiency.”

Arla’s UK head office is in Stourton, alongside its dairy and transport hub.

It has 2,730 staff in the UK.
