DePuy Synthes to move out of key office after multi-million pound investment

The company is vacating its striking three-storey building at White Rose Office Park and moving staff into its former manufacturing site at Beeston in Leeds.

DePuy Synthes recently opened its new research and development centre on the site after receiving a £4.35m grant from the Regional Growth Fund. It is also developing a number of other new and existing buildings.

A spokesman said: “Our company has a long history in Leeds dating back to its beginnings at Chas F. Thackray and the new facility will build upon our rich heritage as well as our long-established collaboration with universities, teaching hospitals and other organisations in the region and the rest of the UK.”

The company, which designs artificial limbs as well as other medical products, also has a distribution centre at Capitol Park in Leeds.

Staff at White Rose Office Park will move to Beeston over the next few months.

Meanwhile, the 40,000 sq ft building, known as No 1 WROP, is being marketed to prospective tenants. It was originally developed for DePuy as part of the first phase of the park’s development between 2004 and 2007. It is being marketed at a quoting rent of £20 per sq ft.

David Aspin, of developer Munroe K, said: “The regional office market was boosted by last year’s take-up levels, resulting in limited, quality supply and we are confident that this building will provide an attractive option for occupiers seeking space in and around Leeds.”
