Dessert maker invited into The Local Pantry

JUST Desserts, which provides handmade desserts and pastries to the hospitality and foodservice sector, has been selected as a supplier to new family-run food shop The Local Pantry.

James O’Dwyer, managing director of Shipley-based Just Desserts said: “We are seeing encouraging signs within the burgeoning food/farm shop market and we are delighted to be chosen by The Local Pantry to supply our patisserie products. It is fantastic to see the demand by local customers for Yorkshire made products and for the passion and support of new businesses like The Local Pantry, who actively source and promote regional food and drink.”

Just Desserts, which was established by Mr O’Dwyer and his wife Carol in 1985 when they made their first handmade cake at Salts Mill, in Saltaire, today employs 17 staff. The business moved to larger premises in Shipley in 1989. This year, the company invested in state-of-the-art equipment to support its growth plans. It declined to discuss turnover.

The Local Pantry, a new food shop and café, in Leathley, near Pool in Wharfedale, is the brainchild of former Asda buyer Suzannah Hepworth. She said: “We chose Just Desserts for their baking expertise, knowledge and local provenance.”
