Digital Barriers clinches another deal

SECURITY firm Digital Barriers, which bought video surveillance firm Coe last year, said today it has bought a sensor technology company.

Digital Barriers has acquired Zimiti, which is based in Cambridge.

Zimiti focuses on the development of Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) technology. UGS solutions are used in surveillance and protective applications in the defence and security sectors.

Its accounts for the year ended 28 February 2011 show turnover of £144,000 with loss before interest and tax of £301,000.

Digital Barriers believes the dela will help it expand in the areas of defence, border control, critical infrastructure security, oil and gas.

DB, which bought Leeds-based video surveillance firm Coe last September, published its results earlier this month after a series of acquisitions. They showed a pre-tax loss of £4.6m and an adjusted loss before tax of £2.7m while revenue was £6.6m for the 13 months to March 31.
