Directors’ shake-up on the Newburgh board

Engineering firm Newburgh has announced a new board of directors following the retirement of chairman Tony Middleton last month. Mr Middleton is succeeded by cousin Vincent Middleton, who has worked at the Rotherham-based firm for over 25 years.

David Greenham will take over Vincent Middleton’s role as managing director after spending 38 years at the company. Danny Gibbons will be operations director, while former commercial manager Matthew Hewitt has joined the board as sales director. IT Technology firm virtualDCS has recruited a new support engineer and a new virtual architect after securing several business contracts.

Matthew Chamberlain, who previously worked at technology information firm Autodata, will monitor customer services, while former Reckitt Benckiser employee Paul Sheard will design server virtualisation solutions for the Leeds-based company.

David Soskin has been appointed non-executive director on the board of Aldermore bank, which has a regional office in Leeds. He has 15 years of experience, including chief executive officer at both Cheapflights Media and mySupermarket.com. Mr Soskin, who wrote the book Net Profit: How to Succeed in Digital Business, will look to develop the company’s digital strategy.

Donna Steel has been promoted to associate director in the Sheffield audit practice of business adviser Grant Thornton. Ms Steel has worked in the audit department for 13 years, completing assignments for international groups and working on pensions schemes.

She will now lead audits from the Sheffield area, working closely with the Leeds office. Meanwhile, Emma Davies has been appointed to director of a new enterprise group in the business’s Sheffield office.

She joined the firm 19 years ago, and has worked in the audit department as well as setting up a special projects group.

Graham Usher has been appointed general manager of the Best Western Monkbar Hotel in York. He will return to the city after leaving York in 2005. His previous roles include posts at luxury hotel Hazelwood Castle and Ilkley’s Craiglands Hotel. He will take over from June Nelsey, who has left after 11 years at the hotel.

Web developer Oliver Rebbeck has joined Arkom, which specialises in building scalable websites for manufacturing companies. He previously worked at a design consultancy in Doncaster, but will now design websites for the Sheffield-based firm, who deal with companies including B.Braun, Stainless UK, and Down’s Surgical.

Communications agency Talk to Media has appointed Liam Grady as PR and social media manager and Ben Hamilton has joined as a graphic designer.

Mr Grady, joins the Doncaster-based firm after leaving his position of account executive at Public Group. Mr Hamilton, has previously worked for Sheffield-based care providers, Progressive Care.
