Dobbies new centre to bloom with jobs
Dobbies, one of the UK’s biggest garden centre retailers, is planning to create 120 jobs with a new Garden World development at York Business Park.
The garden centre is proposed on an eight-acre site off the outer ring road (A1237) in the Nether Poppleton area.
The proposal follows a decision by Dobbies in 2009 to withdraw plans to develop a Garden World on an initial site to the south-east of York, near Fulford and the York Designer Outlet.
Stuart Wright, director of property at Dobbies, said: “We’ve now identified a suitable site in York which will hopefully allow us to move forward.”
