Drury proves a safe bet for acquisition

A Bradford-based consultancy which helps firms meet health and safety rules has been snapped up by a private equity-backed acquisition vehicle.

The Alcumus Group yesterday said it was expanding its compliance and certification services by buying Drury PSM Ltd.

London-based Alcumus, backed by Sovereign Capital, already has subsidiaries including Sypol, Info Exchange and ISOQAR.

Drury was established in 1991 by Tony and Rosemary Izzard and Ian Rainbow. It advises on health and safety, human resources, employment contracts and employment law. It offers 24-hour advice lines and training courses. Chris Whittam joins the business as director of Drury PSM.

Martin Smith, Alcumus chief executive, said: “We have followed and known Drury for a number of years and are delighted to have been able to acquire such an established brand and quality provider of services to the growing human resources and health and safety compliance market.”
