DTP turnover to double as it feels benefit of public sector drive to cut costs

AN IT firm is set to more than double its turnover to nearly £40m in two years, and is still growing its business levels with clients in the public sector as they strive for cost-savings, its managing director said.

Hunslet-based DTP, which was established by Leeds entrepreneur Howard Hall in 1987, specialises in the delivery of IT products and services across the public and private sectors in the UK and parts of Europe.

Clients include Leeds Metropolitan University, Toyota, Air Canada, FedEx and BUPA. DTP has expanded beyond its headquarters in Leeds, opening regional offices across the UK in Newbury, London, Falkirk and Bridgend.

After growing its sales organically over recent years the firm, which celebrates its 25th anniversary next year, is now focused on generating opportunities by strengthening its workforce and improving customer service. It has recently made two senior appointments into newly created roles of head of marketing and head of operations, to help drive growth.

Annual sales last year were up 45 per cent on the previous year to £25.5m, a figure which the firm says it is confident it will achieve again in the current financial year. Howard Hall, DTP’s managing director, said: “We can attribute the growth to an increased take-up in Managed Print Services (MPS) and demand from clients to consolidate and virtualise their infrastructure services.

“Our services and solutions help companies save money, for example in the area of MPS we can deliver savings of between 25-45 per cent on current spend in most cases.

“During tough economic times, organisations need to become more efficient, which is why demand for these services is at an all-time high.”

Mr Hall said the firm was still working and growing its business levels with clients within the public sector despite this year’s cuts.

He said: “There are still a number of areas within the public sector that provide opportunities as they continue to strive for cost savings, particularly councils, colleges and universities, which are undergoing huge changes at the moment.”
