DTZ has hired six extra staff in Leeds. Steve Clarke has rejoined the company as a director, together with surveyors Heather Smith and Josh Howe in retail agency; rating senior surveyor Richard Gibala; business rates manager, Catherine Hope; and customer satisfaction analyst Caitlin Davis.

Building consultancy senior director Philip Webb has also been appointed as DTZ’s skill’s head for project and building consultancy in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

Mr Webb will continue to be based in Leeds, serving clients and developing new opportunities, while co-ordinating the project and building consultancy activities in the North of England.

Tim Cameron-Jones, the senior director and head of DTZ’s Leeds office, said: “DTZ’s commitment to growth in Leeds allows us to continue to service our very strong client base at a local level, but with the strength of DTZ’s national and international reputation as leaders in the market to support this growth.

“As the market becomes more favourable we have adopted an ambitious growth agenda and I am delighted to announce the recruitment of these key people to our business across a diverse range of skills.”

In May, a DTZ report concluded that Leeds offered the best opportunities for commercial property investors, with key markets all underpriced.

At the time, DTZ said the city’s prime office, industrial and retail sectors were more than five per cent below fair market value.

Greg Davison, investment director at the agency’s Leeds office, told The Yorkshire Post: “The opportunity to generate above average returns from commercial property within Leeds is unique within the UK, as it occurs across all of the key market sectors.”
