Dyson Group sells ceramics business

High-tech materials firm Dyson Group has sold its ceranics business for £100,000.

The Sheffield company, which is cutting costs as part of a restructuring process, said subsidiary Dyson Industries had completed the sale of Precision Ceramics to JEMMTEC.

Precision makes products used in the glass and metals industry and is based in Dewsbury.

Twenty-four staff will transfer to JEMMTEC, which has taken a lease for up to two years on the Dyson site in Dewsbury.

JEMMTEC has been established and is controlled in part by the existing and previous management of Precision and will trade as Magma Ceramics.

Precision had gross assets of 2.3m at 30 September 2008 and made a profit of 53,000 in the six months to the same date.

The interim results to 30 September 2008 are the most recent published results for Dyson Group.
