Ellis wins key approval for products

ELLIS, the North Yorkshire-based cable cleat manufacturer, has received key product certification, allowing it to grow its presence in the offshore and shipping markets.

Ellis’ cable cleats are designed and manufactured to secure electrical cables so they can withstand a short circuit fault.

The firm said that it has achieved “type approval” of its Vulcan and Emperor cable cleats by DNV GL, a ship and offshore classification society, which also provides independent assurance and expert advisory services for the sector.

These cable cleats protect against corrosion in harsh environments, meaning they are particularly suitable for the offshore and shipping markets.

Andy Booth, technical director of Ellis, said: “DNV GL Type Approval is one of the most commonly requested product certifications in any of the geographical or industry markets, which we operate in.

“And although we already have a considerable presence in the offshore and shipping market, this approval will open a great deal of new doors.”
