Energy chief joins NG Bailey

Peter Emery, the man who helps keep Britain’s lights on, is joining one of Yorkshire’s largest family-owned businesses to help with its charge into the energy sector.

Ilkley-based NG Bailey has appointed Mr Emery, the production director at Drax, as a non-executive member of the board. Drax is the largest coal-fired power station in the UK and generates around seven per cent of the nation’s energy needs.

Chairman Nimble Thompson said: “Peter’s appointment is significant for us.

“The insight and experience Peter brings will be invaluable as we look to expand our presence in buoyant markets, including in the power and industrial and energy sectors.”

Mr Emery has previously held senior positions at Esso in the UK and Exxon in the US.
