Enterprise partnership board named

THE Leeds City Region Partnership last night announced the members of the business-led board that will head up the local enterprise partnership (LEP).

Neil McLean, of DLA Piper, the chairman of the Leeds City Region board, said: “Setting up the board is the first important step towards establishing the new partnership.”

The private-sector members of the LEP Board will be: Mr McLean; John Parkin, the chief executive, of Leeds Bradford International Airport; Stephen Kennedy, the chief operating officer of CPP Group; Mark Ridgeway, the managing director of Group Rhodes; Stephanie Burras, the chief executive, of Leeds Ahead; Gary Jones, the chairman MSA Engineering Systems & Heights Group; Paul Hamer, chief executive officer, WYG Group; Brian Cantor, Vice Chancellor, the University of York; and Gary Lumby, director of small business banking, Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks.

Mr McLean intends to bring together board members as soon as possible to begin discussing the key issues facing the LEP, which will be set up formally from April 2011.
