The entry deadline for awards approaches

COMPANIES and individuals have until midnight on Monday to enter this year’s Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards.

The keynote speaker is Business Secretary Vince Cable, while Alistair McGowan will be presenting at the region’s most prestigious business awards ceremony, to be held in Leeds in November.

The BAFTA-winning star, who is a graduate of Leeds University, will bring his acclaimed impressions to the event, which is in its seventh year.

The awards highlight the world-class companies and individuals who are playing a vital role in delivering prosperity and growth to Yorkshire.

DLA Piper, Goldman Sachs, PwC and Yorkshire Bank are the main sponsors.

Mr Cable emphasised the importance of entrepreneurialism to the health of the country. He said: “Despite the difficult economic conditions we are continuing to see businesses taking the initiative, being innovative and thriving. It is great that local companies in Yorkshire are being recognised for the fantastic work they are doing to help boost the local and UK economy.”

The categories available for entry are: Companies with a turnover under £10m, sponsored by Yorkshire Bank; Companies with a turnover between £10m and £50m, sponsored by PwC; Companies with a turnover of more than £50m, sponsored by DLA Piper; Young Business of the Year, for firms up to three years old, sponsored by Goldman Sachs; Young Entrepreneur of the Year, for all promising owner-managers and directors aged 35 and under, sponsored by O2; SME Manufacturer of the Year, for manufacturing companies with a turnover of under £10m, sponsored by KeyedIn; Innovation of the Year, sponsored by Drax; Exporter of the Year, sponsored by thebigwordGroup; Outstanding Employer of the Year, sponsored by Bradford University School of Management; and the Business Community Award, sponsored by QBE Insurance.
