Evening with leading ladies who have helped to put city on map

THE new female face of law, politics, business and manufacturing in Sheffield will be celebrated at an event later this month.

Suzanne Liversidge, leading partner at the Sheffield office of international law firm Kennedys, will join a historic line-up of five women all holding significant posts in the region at An Evening with South Yorkshire’s Leading Ladies.

She is also the first female president of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce in its 154-year history and a former Sheffield Businesswoman of the Year.

At the Sheffield Hallam University event she will be joined by Julie Kenny CBE DL, who will soon take over as High Sherriff, Sheffield City Council leader Julie Dore and Coun Sylvia Dunkley, Sheffield’s current Lord Mayor.

Completing the line-up will be Pam Liversidge, the first female Master Cutler chosen by the company since it was founded in 1624. Pam also received an OBE in 1999 for services to engineering.

Suzanne said: “This year, and for the first time ever, five of the most significant roles in South Yorkshire are held by women which is something to be celebrated.

“This puts Sheffield in a unique position and I am pleased we are using this opportunity to demonstrate the business credentials the steel city has to offer.”

Each of the women will take to the stage at the event on January 25 to talk about their key roles in the city and the approach, attitude and ambition that got them where they are today. Places are free but should be booked in advance for the event, which will start at 7.30pm at the Pennine Theatre on the university’s City Campus.
