The event will discuss an energy strategy that brings benefits to consumers, homes and businesses and debate how energy supply companies in the future can and should work.

Speakers include Sir John Harman, the former chairman of the Environment Agency and the chair of IPPR North’s new Northern Energy Taskforce, Katie Schmuecker, head of policy at Joseph Rowntree Foundation, Tom Merry CBE, the Deputy City Mayor of Salford, and Annie Faulder, the co-founder of MME. It will be chaired by The Yorkshire Post’s business editor Mark Casci.

MME is offering to partner with public sector organisations, charities, anchor institutions and membership organisations to provide “fair for all” and “smart from the start” energy deals to local households and businesses using the latest technology.

MME chairman Peter Connolly said: “We want public sector, charitable and arts organisations to understand the many ways that they can support their local communities by partnering with MME.

“Instead of paying out profits to external shareholders with no real stake in our towns and cities, they can pay less for energy, generate income, tackle fuel poverty and support local economic growth by investing dividends in community initiatives, regeneration and job creation.”
