Executive to take on ambassador role to promote Yorkshire Bank

A SENIOR executive who spent seven years in Australia has been appointed as an ambassador for Yorkshire Bank.

John Hooper, executive director and National Australia Group Europe (NAGE) board member, will work with the media, Government and community groups to promote the Yorkshire Bank brand.

The announcement follows the news that Dean Cutbill, products and marketing director for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, will be leaving the business this summer.

Mr Cutbill said he had enjoyed “seven great years” at Yorkshire Bank but it was time to move on.

Mr Hooper is one of three executive directors of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks and sits alongside Lynne Peacock and David Thorburn on the board of National Australia Group Europe. A Yorkshire Bank spokesman said he brought a wealth of global business and investment banking experience to the role of ambassador.

The spokesman said: “This underlines the bank’s commitment to supporting Yorkshire business growth and the value the business puts on supporting the Yorkshire community.”

Having spent 15 years with the NAB Group, seven of which were in Melbourne, Mr Hooper returned to the UK in March 2009 to take up his executive director position.

He previously sat on the NAB group’s executive committee and was chief executive of the group’s former nabCapital business.
