David Brown, owned by Clyde Blowers Capital, is a major supplier of gearboxes and gearing technology products and services.

During the Second World War, it produced thousands of gears for tanks, and defence remains an important sector for the company, which employs 250 staff and has a turnover of around £40m for its UK business. The company declined to reveal the precise scale of its investment.
