Family-run dairy farm wins prestigious ice-cream contract at food hall

AN upmarket ice-cream business has won a contract to supply Fodder, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society's flagship food hall in Harrogate.

Yummy Yorkshire, run by the Holmes family, of Delph House Dairy Farm, on the edge of Huddersfield, will supply five flavours to go on sale immediately. Shoppers will be able to choose from Real Lemon Curd, Lou's Liquorice and Riley's Toffee ice cream, made using the century-old, world-famous toffee recipe from Ella Riley's Traditional Sweet Shop, based in Holmfirth. An ice-cream version of Fodder's espresso coffee will also be on offer.

Fodder ploughs its profits back into helping the rural community in northern England.

Managing director Heather Parry said: "Fodder is always on the search for the best and most interesting Yorkshire products and so we are delighted to be stocking Yummy Yorkshire ice creams."

Delph House Farm, started in the 1960s, has produced and bottled its own milk for over half a century and the ice cream making was added in April 2007. They use fresh milk and cream from the farm's Friesian Holstein herd and the result is a traditional product.

The Fodder deal comes after Yummy Yorkshire won a contract to supply Asda earlier this year.
