Farmhouse prices reach plateau

Prices for farmhouses in the north of England have plateaued according to latest research by the property consultants.

The northern farmhouse market was relatively unscathed by the economic downturn, but has now seen the sharpest fall of all the UK regions, at six per cent.

The average value of a farmhouse in the region stands at £1.2m, and head of research at Carter Jonas, Caroline Penman says that although prices have levelled, there may be tentative increases in demand during 2012.

“Despite the fall in values witnessed throughout most other regions, the outlook for the farmhouse market in the north is good,” said head of residential at Carter Jonas Harrogate office, Tony Wright.
