Fenner appoints new non-exec

CONVEYOR belt giant Fenner has appointed a seasoned finance professional as non-executive director.

The group, based in Hessle near Hull, appointed John Sheldrick with effect from September 1.

Mr Sheldrick retired as finance director of platinum refiner Johnson Matthey in 2009 after almost 20 years on the company's board. Before joining Johnson Matthey he was treasurer of The BOC Group. He is currently a non-executive director of GKN.

Fenner chairman Colin Cooke said "We are delighted that John has accepted the non-executive director position.

"He is a very experienced, highly regarded professional who in his career to date has ably demonstrated strong financial management and acumen. John has considerable international experience and his appointment will further enhance the current board of Fenner."

On his appointment Mr Sheldrick will become a member of the audit, nominations and remuneration committees of Fenner and, on the retirement of David Buttfield at the AGM in January 2011, he will take over as chair of the audit committee.
