Fiery Fred’s ale to bowl them over again

A TRADITIONAL Yorkshire bottled ale dedicated to legendary fast bowler Fred Trueman has been relaunched to coincide with the Cricket World Cup.

Skipton brewery Copper Dragon has made its Fred Trueman Ale available on draft across the Midlands and North of England and it will also be sold in this form under the name Owzat.

Steve Taylor, managing director of the brewery, said: “The Fred Trueman Ale was very popular in Yorkshire given Fiery Fred’s close links.

“We’ve decided that the same ale will also be sold under the name of Owzat so that real ale drinkers without the generational or geographical affinity to Fred Trueman will have a choice as to what they order.”

It is the first of five limited edition ales that Copper Dragon will launch this year, with the next due to appear in May. The Cricket World Cup begins on Saturday.
