Findel appoints boardroom heavyweight Powers-Freeling

Home shopping group Findel said today it appointed a former Marks & Spencer director to its board.

Laurel Powers-Freeling becomes a non-excutive director from October 1.

Mr Powers-Freeling has been a group executive director at M & S Group and chief executive of M & S Financial Services.

He was also the UK country manager and chairman of the European insurance business at American Express Services Europe.

He has also had spells as managing director of the wealth management division at Lloyds TSB, before which he was the finance and strategy director of the UK retail banking division.

David Sugden, chairman of Findel, said: "Laurel will be a terrific asset and I am delighted to welcome her to the Findel board. We look forward to the significant value and positive contributions that Laurel will add going forward."

Mr Powers-Freeling currently holds non-executive director positions at BBA-LIBOR Ltd, the Bank of Ireland (UK) and remains a senior adviser to the Bank of England.
