Firm bedding down for retail success online

FOR generations, Huddersfield has been synonymous with the textile industry, which brought prosperity to a town which had spent years in the shadow of larger settlements.

With the arrival of online shopping, the town’s entrepreneurs were faced with another challenge.

If the success of the online bed retailer, Time4Sleep, is taken as an indicator, they are certainly rising to it.

Yesterday, the company revealed that it was on track to hit its 2014 growth targets. The firm specialises in bed frames, divans and mattresses, and it is aiming to achieve an annual revenue target of £4m by the end of its 2014 financial year in October.

This represents 33 per cent year-on-year growth and follows seven years of steady growth.

Formed in 2006 in response to the boom in online shopping, the company plans to meet its targets by expanding its product portfolio with new ranges.

It also plans to reduce delivery times further, increase the size of its team and spend more cash on marketing.

Jonathan Warren, the director and founder of Time4Sleep, said: “We’re delighted to have had such a great start to our financial year, following seven years of rapid growth.

“It’s an exciting time for the business, and we’re extremely confident of hitting our biggest ever annual revenue target this year.

“We created Time4Sleep when the market for buying furniture online was still in its infancy, but had a clear strategy in place from day one.”

Mr Warren and his wife Victoria are the main shareholders, and the company employs eight staff.

Mr Warren added: “The online retail environment is extremely fast-paced and so the key to long-term success is to continually evolve and respond to the latest market challenges and changing customer needs.”
